The Local Development Framework (LDF) emphasises the importance of engaging the community at an early stage in the policy development process and on continuing this engagement throughout the entire process.

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out the Council's approach to engaging the general community, community organisations and statutory bodies in local planning matters, both in terms of shaping policy and participating in the process of determining planning applications.

The Statement of Community Involvement was adopted at a meeting of the Council on the 9 January 2007. The document can be viewed and downloaded from the link below or hard copies can be viewed at the Environmental Services reception (Guildhall 2), borough libraries or at the Chessington and New Malden Helpdesks.
