Kingston Town Centre Area Action Plan
Role and Purpose
To provide a comprehensive strategy and land use policies to promote and guide the future development of Kingston Town Centre. The Area Action Plan will be informed by a range of recent studies, the K+20 Kingston Town Centre Strategy, the Community Plan, the London Plan, and the emerging Sub-regional Development Framework for south London.
The Area Action Plan will incorporate proposals for key areas for change and conservation. The latter will include a section dedicated to the Kingston Old Town Conservation Area, situated within the Area Action Plan boundaries.

Geographical Coverage
The Area Action Plan defines the town centre boundary and will be an inset to the Proposals Map.
UDP Policies to be replaced
All the policies in Chapter 12 on Kingston: STR21 (The Range of Functions in Kingston Town Centre), STR22 (Townscape), STR23 (Accessibility to and Within the Town Centre), and policies KTC1 to KTC27.
Conformity
With national policies, the London Plan, saved UDP (Part 1) policies and the emerging core strategy, having regard to the Community Plan.

The Inspector held a Pre-Examination Meeting on Wednesday 28 November 2007
Examination
The Examination was held from Tuesday 29 January 2008 to Wednesday 6 February 2008.
Inspector's Report
The Council received the Inspector's Report in April 2008.
