A six week period for people to comment on the plan took place between 25 May and 6 July 2007. Copies of the representations, a summary of the representations and the issues raised are now available.
The Council has also carried out a statutory period of consultation on the representations received on site allocations. This ended on the 12th September 2007.
To reflect recent developments in the town centre, the Council also consulted on updates to the Area Action Plan Proposals Map. The changes propose the designation and addition of Secondary retail frontages to the map. This consultation ended on the 24th October 2007.

The 'hearings' part of the examination of the plan took place at the end of January 2008. An independent Planning Inspector considered all representations that the Council received in order to assess whether or not the plan is "sound" i.e. that it shows good judgement and fulfills the requirements of planning legislation.
