You can sponsor a new tree in your street or another street in the borough for £360.
We will offer advice on what type of tree is suitable and discuss the location of the tree with you. We generally try to match what is in the street scene already. If it is a new planting site then we undertake a service check before the site is agreed.
We will then purchase, plant and maintain the tree for two years. After that this time, it will be placed on the cyclical maintenance programme that all other street trees benefit from.
Unfortunately, memorial tree planting is no longer offered to residents but you could sponsor a tree instead.
The cost of a new tree is £360. This includes the cost of the tree itself, any planting costs and two years watering.
Yes you can and the tree will benefit especially in drought conditions. We will water the tree for the first two years but the tree will need as much water as it can get to establish itself and flourish.
The planting season runs from the beginning of November through to the middle of March. In order to give the trees the best possible start no planting will take place outside of these dates.
We sometimes need to remove a tree if it is dying or poses a risk to the safety of the public. Unfortunately a sponsored tree will not automatically be replaced when it is removed. Instead, a sponsored tree can be placed on the 'wish list' to be replaced as and when the budget is available.
