King Edwards Recreation Ground is a medium size site of about 9 acres, situated on the Hook Road just off the A3.
It has a rose garden, tennis court and a bowling green which is leased to Hook and Southborough Bowls Club. To the rear of King Edwards Recreation Ground are Hook and Kingston Sports Association Club who are in the process of rebuilding their clubhouse after getting planning permission after it was burnt down in a fire.
The Hook and Southborough Bowling Club are situated in the right hand corner of the recreation ground and were established in 1905, therefore celebrating their centenary this year. Players meet in the clubhouse during the bowls season and new members will be made very welcome. More information can be obtained from the number listed below.
To the rear of the Rugby Club is Hook Allotments a self managed site, which is leased to the Hook Allotments Association. Members of the public are welcome to join, for plot availability please contact the association on the number below.
There is limited car parking in the recreation ground with two disabled bay spaces. There are also toilets on site with a separate disabled toilet, access by Radar Key.
St. Paul’s 2nd Hook Scout Group (established 1963) has a Scout hut adjacent to the recreation ground. They meet throughout the week, Wednesday and Thursday from 5p.m. till 9.00 p.m. and Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 7.00 p.m. till 9.00 p.m. their number is also listed below. New members are always welcome.
The playground is very popular with kids and the equipment is suitable for children age 3 to 14 years. There are a couple of items suitable for children with limited disabilities.
The Rugby Club and allotments can be accessed by a private track just off of the Hook Road.
