Stray Dogs

From 6 April 2008 a change in the law means that you can no longer take a stray dog to your local Police Station.  From that date, all stray dogs will be dealt with by us.

What do do if you find a Stray Dog

If you are a resident and find a stray dog which you have have captured, please contact us as follows.

During normal office hours  (9.00 am to 5.00 pm )  Monday to Friday, please telephone  Environmental Health on 020 8547 5536.

Outside normal working hours (5.00pm to 9.00am Monday to Friday and all day Weekends and Bank Holidays), please telephone the Council’s service provider on 0845 371 2522.

Please note that the out of hours service is only available for a stray dog which you have caught.  If  you wish to report a stray dog running loose, or dog fouling, or wants any other advice on dog matters, please telephone Environmental Health on 020 8547 5536 during normal office hours.  The Council does not operate an out of hours service for these complaints.

What to do if you have lost a Dog

If you have lost a dog, please telephone Environmental Health during normal office hours as above.  We will be able to tell you if your dog has been found.
