What can Schools do?

1. You could be promoting what you already do:

  • recycling
  • use of eco-friendly energy saving practices
  • water saving practices
  • reducing your paper use
  • turning off the lights when the school is closed or they are not in use
  • growing your own vegetables
  • promoting walking and cycling to school
  • composting and developing wildlife gardens, see more information on Sustainable Gardening

See our environmental resources for schools publication on:

2. You could organise a special activity for the festival, e.g.:

  • Run a session / assembly with students and or parents to discuss environmental issues and raise their awareness of what they can do.

3. You could bring a class down to one of Kingston Council’s ‘Green Days’ taking place across the borough each Thursday during May, or any other activity of the festival

  • Encourage pupils and staff to use alternative means of transport to come to the school

4. You could join the PTG interactive poster campaign which you will receive with the festival’s registration pack.

5. You could be involved in Kingston’s first and only Eco FM Radio station (Kingston Green Radio) broadcasting for 10 days in May for PTG.
