What does Sustainable Gardening involve?

Use of drought tolerant plants
Use of water saving methods
Mixed planting using wild flowers and garden plants
Introduction of fruits and vegetables as part of the landscape
Balance between trees/shrubs and bedding plants
Use of propagation techniques
Leave undisturbed areas for wildlife
Use of non-peat based compost
Use of mulching and ground cover

What do we want to achieve?

Transform Kingston into a Green Borough that supports local biodiversity and contributes towards helping the environment through sustainable gardening practices.

How do we do it?

Promoting sustainable gardening through the Kingston in Bloom Competition
Promoting knowledge and experience sharing among gardeners in the borough
Organising workshops and other events
