What does Sustainable Gardening involve?
- Use of drought tolerant plants
- Use of water saving methods
- Mixed planting using wild flowers and garden plants
- Introduction of fruits and vegetables as part of the landscape
- Balance between trees/shrubs and bedding plants
- Use of propagation techniques
- Leave undisturbed areas for wildlife
- Use of non-peat based compost
- Use of mulching and ground cover

How do we do it?
- Promoting sustainable gardening through the Kingston in Bloom Competition
- Promoting knowledge and experience sharing among gardeners in the borough
- Organising workshops and other events
