Changing Schools
When a pupil with a Statement needs to change schools, the plans are discussed at the Annual Review a whole year earlier to make sure there is plenty of time to make arrangements and the pupil’s transfer goes smoothly.
We will amend your child’s Statement.
For children moving to secondary school, the annual review meeting is usually held in the summer term of Year 5. Some parents already have a preferred secondary school because of a family link, or perhaps a local church. Do not worry if you haven’t decided before the annual review meeting, we write to you during the summer your child moves from Year 5 to Year 6.
We will aim to confirm which secondary school and give you a new proposed Statement by 15 February when your child is in Year 6.
