We provide a central induction programme for NQTs and support your progress throughout your first year. We provide training, monitoring and guidance to ensure that your induction is effective and the eventual assessment fair and accurate. We are very proud that we have an excellent 'pass' rate for our NQT induction year.

We are the 'Appropriate Body' which confirms the outcome of the induction year, based on the headteacher's recommendation and termly progress reports. • Supporting Bilingual Pupils      

We also support schools with the induction of newly qualified teachers by :

• providing a training programme for NQTs
• advising and training NQTs to implement the Literacy and Numeracy Stragtegies
• arranging for NQTs to meet together for mutual support
• providing regular meetings and training for school induction tutors
• ensuring our Link Inspectors support school-based induction, observe NQTs and give contructive advice and feedback
• providing a named person for newly qualified teachers to contact if they have concerns
• confirming the outcome of the induction for the individual, the school and the DfES.

The NQT Induction programme is well attended, and newly qualified teachers find it very supportive. NQTs in Kingston also receive high quality support through thier school's own induction programme.

As a Local Authority, we also give priority to supporting teachers in their second and third years - with a training programme designed to meet their needs for on-going professional development.
