Since 2008 the Royal Borough of Kingston has faced rising demand for school places at its primary schools. To meet this need Kingston Council is proposing to expand a number of schools throughout the borough from September 2011 and open a new primary school on part of the Surbiton Hospital site.
NHS Kingston and Kingston Council have been working together with GPs, patients, parents, carers and other local people to bring a new lease of life to the Surbiton Hospital site. We undertook a pre-planning application consultation from 5 July - 31 July 2010.
There were a number of opportunities to provide views at a series of staffed exhibition drop-in sessions including the July Neighbourhood meetings for Surbiton and the South of the Borough. Residents and others interested in the proposals were able to make comments and register their support or objection to the proposals via a questionnaire available at staffed sessions or via an on-line response form.
All of these views will be taken into account when finalising the development proposals and submitting them as a planning application which is expected in October 2010. Further statutory consultation on the planning application will be held when submitted.
