The Office of the Schools Adjudicator has decided that the new 2 Form Entry primary school in Surbiton will be provided by the Surbiton Education Health Trust. The Trust is a partnership between the Royal Borough of Kingston, NHS Kingston, South West London Health Partnerships and Your Health Care.
This follows a School Competition to invite bids to run a new primary school on the Surbiton Hospital site (details below).
Works are underway and the school will open on 3 September 2012.
On 14 January 2011, The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames published a notice inviting proposals to provide a new 2 Form Entry Primary School on part of the Surbiton Hospital site alongside a brand new health facility for the local community.
Two proposals to run the new Primary School to open in September 2012 were received:
A public notice summarising the proposals received was published on 3 June 2011 and a response form to invite comments on them was widely circulated in the Surbiton area. These are attached below along with the full proposals from Lilac Sky Schools and Surbiton Education Health Trust.
The consultation period ran for six weeks from 3 June 2011and all comments received have now been forwarded to the Office of the Schools Adjudicator who will have the power to decide who will run the school.
A public meeting was held on Tuesday 14 June 2011 at Dysart School. At the meeting, attended by approximately 40 people, there was an opportunity to meet the prospective bidders, ask questions and make comments. A copy of the presentations and notes from the meeting are below.
At this public meeting, representatives from both organisations presented their plans for the school and answered questions from the audience.
