You may find it helpful to contact one or both of these bodies, for advice to you individually as a governor and also with a view to your governing body joining one or more of them. They provide regular newsletters and/or magazines for governors, and various other forms of support.

In addition, there is the DfES-sponsored telephone enquiry line for all governors to use when they have a query, whether they are enquiring on behalf of their governing body or individually:

• Governorline tel. 08000 722181, or www.governorline.info This offers a seven-days-a-week helpline for governors in need of speedy advice. It is staffed by serving governors, and is organised by the National Governors’ Council with DfES support.
