Train to Gain Programme Information

Who can apply?

   Client group

  • People employed in administrative, clerical or customer service related fields who want to improve career prospects and gain recognition of skills through the achievement of a first vocational qualification at Level 2
  • Candidates should be aged 19+ and undertaking work at Level 2
  • Application for programme through employer

   Eligibility

  • Competent at Level 1
  • Hold less than 5 GCSEs grades A-C
  • No Level 2 equivalent qualification held

When would I attend?

   Duration of course

  • 3 - 9 months

   Attendance

  • NVQ delivered in work place with release for centre-based training support and literacy or numeracy examinations as required

What training is available?

   Centre-based training

  • Vocational skills including IT
  • Personal development
  • Basic literacy and numeracy

   Work-based training

  • On-the-job training
  • Other work related courses where relevant

   Assessment

  • Assessment of skills in the work place
  • Underpinning knowledge guidance and assessment
  • NVQ portfolio building
  • Progress and feedback reviews

What qualifications would I gain?

   Qualfication options

  • IT User NVQ (ITQ) Level 2
  • Business & Administration NVQ Level 2
  • Customer Service NVQ Level 2

       Plus, where appropriate

  • Certificate in Adult Numeracy Levels 1 & 2
  • Certificate in Adult Literacy Level s 1 & 2

How would I be supported?

   Financial

  • Free to eligible participants - fully funded by the Learning and Skills Council

   Personal

  • Individual guidance and support from NVQ Assessor

  • All year round roll-on, roll-off entry dates and assessment for course suitability
