
Who can apply?
Employees in paid or voluntary work aged 19+ (learners aged 19 - 25 may be directed to Apprenticeship programmes)
- Candidates should be using skills relating to their chosen NVQ subject area as part of their job description
- At Level 2 you will generally be carrying out procedures developed or requested by others, refer to a supervisor/line manager and work fairly independently using own initiative
- At Level 3 you will generally be planning and developing procedures for other staff to follow and supervising staff who carry out those procedures, make suggestions and implement them
How long is the course?
- Between 6-12 months depending on level and experience
How will my qualification be delivered?
NVQ Assessment
- NVQ Assessor visits to the work place include:
- observation and assessment of skills
- underpinning knowledge guidance and assessment
- NVQ portfolio guidance
- progress and feedback reviews
- Centre-based assessment available for learners if required
Learning support
- Access to centre-based training support:
- vocational skills delivered in workshops, modular sessions and open learning sessions
- personal development sessions including communication skills (as needed)
- literacy and numeracy supervised open learning centre
- Work-based training support
- on the job training
- other work related courses where relevant
- assessor support

National Vocational Qualification options
- Business and Administration NVQ Levels 2 and 3
- Customer Service NVQ Levels 2 and 3
- IT User NVQ (ITQ) Levels 2 and 3
- Management NVQ Level 3
Supporting Basic Skills Qualfications
- Certificate in Adult Literacy, Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2
- Certificate in Adult Numeracy, Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2
How will I be supported?
- NVQ Assessor guidance and support
- Information, advice and guidance on entry to programme, throughout delivery and on exit including post course progression route for further training
- Literacy and numeracy support
- Help for people with disabilities attending centre
How can my training be funded?
Training can be paid for by your employer or you can fund it yourself. Government subsidies apply for those wishing to do an NVQ as part of an apprenticeship.
