The Borough have a Team of Officers who are on call on a rota to enable the Council to respond at anytime. In the event of an emergency, advice may be given to residents/the public, by the Emergency Services or the Borough representative regarding evacuation, non-evacuation etc.
During an emergency or major incident, the authority is obliged to:
- Open the Emergency Control Centre to manage the council's response
- Open rest centres for evacuees and provide longer term accommodation if required
- Provide care and support to affected people
- Provide information and advice to those affected
- Manage the recovery and restoration of infrastructure and services after an emergency, to facilitate a 'return to normality’.
