The fifth Youth Awards Ceremony was held on 25 April 2007 at Raven's Ait, Surbiton, Surrey.
The Awards are a celebration of the achivements of the young people of Kingston, particularly where they have succeeded in spite of difficulties they have experienced. This event highlights the positive profile of young people and showcases the outcomes they are achieving.
There has been an increasing interest in this wonderful event, with nominations from schools, social workers, foster carers, youth centres, leisure centres, community groups and local residents. This year there were 103 nominations covering 5 categories which included Educational Achievement, Sporting Achievement, Courage and Participation and Citizenship.
More than 320 people attended the event and the remarkable young people who were nominated were awarded certificates and the winners and runners-up in each category also received a trophy and gift cards for High Street shops, which were presented to them by the Mayor, Mary Reid.
