Young People

Albany Park Youth Club

Albany Park Youth Club meets at Albany Park Canoe and Sailing Centre every Tuesday evening.  

Participants will have the opportunity to take part in a programme of activities including: kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking, rock climbing and power boating

  • Weekly club sessions, on Tuesdays, leading to regular residential trips in a wide variety of activities
  • High quality tuition from qualified staff

Albany Park Canoe & Sailing Centre

The Centre has a lively atmosphere with a vast array of activities taking place both at the Centre and at other off site locations in South Wales and the Midlands region.  We cater for all levels of ability in the following activities.

Dickerage Lane Adventure Playground

Dickerage is an integral part of Kingston Youth Service and is the only Adventure Playground within the Royal Borough of Kingston.  It is situated within the Dickerage Lane Recreation Ground, and provides sports and activities for children and young people of all ages.

Duke of Edinburgh's Open Award Scheme

Held at The Venner Youth Centre on Thursday evenings.

Also overseeing all Duke of Edinburgh's Award work within schools.

Widely adopted, universally recognised programme for the development of young people.  Four sections (skills, physical, expedition and service) in three levels (Bronze, Silver and Gold) minimum age of entry is 14 years.

  • Training and expedition both land and water based
  • Assistance with every section of the Award

FAB

Is a club for young people with disabilities ages 8 to 25 from 10am - 3pm on Saturdays at Warren Park.

Korean Group

Targeting young people from the Korean community held at the Venner Youth Centre on Mondays.

Open Youth Provision

Run in the youth centres engaging young people in fun and educational activities. This work is also complimented by the youth provisions run via the voluntary sector.

PAYP

A project that takes referrals from other agencies to work with young people during school holidays and runs an open youth provision at Barnfield Youth Centre and the Devon Way Centre

Streetbased Work

Streetbased youth work enables the Youth Service to engage with young people who otherwise would not access any Youth provisions in their area. Workers are on the streets offering information, advice and support in various parts of the borough between Tuesday and Friday evenings and the last Saturday of the month in Kingston town centre.

On Friday evenings workers specialise on drug and alcohol issues and can signpost young people to specialist services where necessary.

‘Younlivin’ bus

Additional to the above Streetbased work we also offer a sexual health drop in on our newly branded ‘Younlivin’ bus (formally ‘Omnibus’) every Thursday 3:30pm – 6:00pm in Kingston town centre outside ‘Accessorize’.

Workers on the ‘younlivin’ bus also provide general information, advice and support service in all local secondary schools every Tuesday lunch times on a rota basis.

TAG

TAG Youth Club  provides leisure and social opportunities for young people with disabilities between the ages of 15 and 25 years of age.  The programme aims to integrate the young people into the local community as well as developing independence, self confidence and self esteem. Meets Fridays at Devon Way Centre 7.30pm - 10.30pm

Kingston Youth Council (KYC)

Aims to represent and advocate for all young people in Kingston by meeting regularly to debate issues that are of importance to young people.  This will include communication with council committees, voluntary groups, police and schools where appropriate.  

  • KYC is an official RBK consultation committee.
  • KYC organises the annual election for the Member of Youth Parliament.
  • Young people lead on many issues i.e. fair trade, recycling, and better local transport.
  • KYC oversee the production of the youth magazine Youth Unlimited.

Youth Unlimited Magazine

Youth Unlimited magazine is produced by a young (12-18) editorial team, covering news, events and issues of interest to young people in Kingston.

  • Produces three high quality issues per year.
  • The team comprises of young people from the majority of Kingston schools.
