Being a mum, dad or carer is not always easy and parenting can be both challenging and rewarding. Kingston offers a range of services for families through Family Liaison Workers in the Supporting Families team.
The service is delivered through school clusters, extended schools and children’s centres.
Support for families might include:
Family Liaison workers attend Stay and Play sessions at children’s centres and if you would like to know about what is available in your area please look at the website for children’s centres below or contact ASKK.
Sessions for dads and their children are put on regularly at centres across the borough – to find out about these go to the Kingston Fathers website below.
The Parents Forum consults parents at regular intervals about matters that are important to them and the Supporting Families service are actively involved with this.
Free handbooks
The new handbook ‘You Matter’ is available. This handbook is for parents and children from Year 6 and upwards. The handbook has been published in a ‘back to front’ format to provide advice and information to parents and teenagers. This gives parents and teenagers the chance to see the information from both sides.
If you would like a copy please email askk@rbk.kingston.gov.uk or you can download a copy below.
The Safe Parenting Handbook
This is free for parents and carers. It offers ideas and information to help parents find their way through what can be a maze of issues and advice. It gives local and national contacts and further information to follow up if you are deciding how to deal with your worries and difficulties.
If you would like a copy please email askk@rbk.kingston.gov.uk
