Any agency wishing to be included in the Service Directory is required to meet a minimum standard of ‘Best Practice’ in terms of Safe Caring for Children. In Level One of the Accreditation Scheme there are three minimum requirements. An additional four requirements are to be achieved for Level Two.
Where applicable, the accreditation level awarded to each provider is displayed on the service directory search results.
There are three minimum requirements that must be met for Level One of the accreditation scheme:
The organisation must have a Child Protection Policy or evidence that it is actively developing a policy, which will include the support available for staff and volunteers who have direct contact with children.
Evidence that the organisation is properly constituted in accordance with the minimum requirements of the council’s Grant Aid criteria, *that is:
Evidence that enhanced Criminal Records Bureau checks are completed on all staff and volunteers who have direct contact with children.
In addition to the above minimum requirements for Level One those services awarded Level Two will need to meet the additional criteria listed below:
All staff working with children will have undertaken child protection training, appropriate to their roles and responsibilities.
Consideration has been given to issues of safety and risk in relation to children and young people, taking into consideration the nature of the work being done and any particular vulnerabilities of the children and young people.
Staff are aware of the requirements to maintain appropriate records of child safety and welfare.
Adoption of an information sharing agreement with the council. This includes an agreement about what information can be shared about vulnerable children and young people with the ASKK manager taking account of data protection requirements.
