“The overall effectiveness of the council’s children’s services is outstanding."
“All services for children and young people in the partnership are good or excellent and have had a very substantial impact on improving outcomes for almost all children and young people.”
All services for children and young people in the local area were inspected during September 2006 in a process known as a Joint Area Review (JAR). A full report on the JAR was published in December 2006 and Kingston became the first Council to be judged as ‘outstanding’ in a JAR inspection report and to receive the top score of 4.
The ‘outstanding’ rating awarded to Children's Services contributes to the Council’s overall Corporate Assessment score. The overall grades achieved in Kingston are the highest in the country so far under the new inspection process, which came into operation in September 2005.
