This is a weekly figure set by the central government and represents the basic living needs of the customer and family.

The total of these allowances make up a customer’s weekly applicable amount. This amount is deducted from the customer’s total weekly income, and their Housing and Council Tax benefit is based on the difference.
The table below shows the amounts from 1 April 2011 and from 1 April 2012. This is not a full list.
